About Sugar Land Texas
Sugar Land, a city in Fort Bend taxes on the southwestern side of the Houston Metro area, got its name from a large sugar plantation situated on the floodplains of the Brazos River and was originally incorporated as a city in 1959. It offers large, upscale developments and master-planned communities increasing its population to over 117,000 residents. It’s currently the home to the headquarters of Imperial Sugar, the company’s main sugar refinery and distribution center, which happens to be one of the logos in our city’s seal.
Sugar Land is full of residential neighborhoods, parks, recreational facilities, first-class shopping, medical facilities, and is ranked as one of America’s safest city since 2008. We pride ourselves on southern hospitality welcoming strangers with open doors and genuine smiles. Our roots are in the agricultural past but we remain firmly fixed on the future expanding our love of performing arts, shopping, dining, and several outdoor recreational destinations. There’s always something to do, see, and explore in Sugar Land, just 20 minutes southwest of Houston.
